About House & Cat

A home should work for everyone who lives there.

House & Cat is an Australian home and lifestyle publication for people who love beautiful spaces and share them with cats.

We believe a cat-friendly home doesn’t have to mean compromising on style. Here you’ll find thoughtful interiors, clever ideas and genuinely useful advice for creating a home that looks good, feels good, and works for the four-legged members of the household too.

House & Cat is also about the life that happens at home. That includes delicious food, favourite books, creative pursuits and simple pleasures that make home the very best place to be.

Behind House & Cat

Hi, I’m Alicia — writer, lifelong cat lover and the homebody behind House & Cat.

I created House & Cat as a culmination of all my favourite things: cosy homes, words, style and, of course, cats.

I share my home with my husband and our two tabbies, Solo (pictured) and Scribe, who have taught me plenty about the realities of creating a beautiful space when you live with cats. Think shedding on the sofa, questionable scratching decisions and the struggle to find a stylish litter box.

House & Cat is where I bring all of my interests together. I research, write and curate everything you see here, with a focus on ideas that are practical, achievable and worth sharing.

When I’m not working on House & Cat, you’ll usually find me writing my latest thriller novel, curating my online shopping wishlists, or reading with a cat on my lap — two, if I’m lucky!
